Working in partnership with the Presbyterian Church USA has been very fruitful. In Cameroon specifically, approximately 11 percent of the population is infected with HIV. Its impact on lives in this country is devastating. In the midst of this horrifying health crisis, the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon is leaving no stone unturned in the fight for education, prevention and treatment. In circumstances such as thess, a friend in need is a true friend indeed. That is why the Presbyterian Church USA in its mission, has stretched forth a hand in a remarkable partnership. Working in collaboration, with the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), has pledged $250,000 to the Mission Initiative: Joining Hearts & Hands, a $40 million campaign by the Presbyterian Church (USA) to renew the church for mission. Their gift has provide multiple-year funding for a new position, an AIDS mission worker, working with the Health Services of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon. Rev.Shirley Hill, a new public health care worker, has already begun her ministry working with Mr. Nubed Godlove Tanyi, Secretary of Health Services for the church. Members of the Westminster team noticed throughout their travels to cities and remote villages how the church is on the forefront of fighting AIDS. The Presbyterian Church in Cameroon is currently responsible for 4 hospitals, 1 leprosy sanitarium and 18 clinics and is on the forefront of fighting not only AIDS but malaria.
